Knitted Fingerless Gloves

Ok! So I am not much of a knitter. Most of my knitting experience has just been with learning knit and purl stitches without following a pattern or making anything useful. I decided to try to advance my skills and make something so I sent a pattern to my daughter-in-law, who is an excellent knitter, and asked her if she thought I could make it. She took one look at it and said, "No!" The pattern was a lot more advanced than my skill level. Luckily she pointed me to this pattern as she thought I could handle it. Well more than a year later I finally finished the fingerless gloves.

I had intended to give them to my Mom all along and got them finished in time for Christmas. The pattern wasn't a snap for me. I had to consult my daughter-in-law to help me figure out the thumb section. There are mistakes in them, but they aren't too noticeable and the most important thing is that my Mom likes them! I might have to try a pair for myself. I would recommend these to a beginner...if I can make them then anyone can!

  1. I don't remember saying "No!" to the original pattern, I just thought this one might be more suited to your skills! They turned out great!

  2. Love them!

My sister knitted me fingerless gloves for Christmas! (But actually gave them to me at Thanksgiving so that I'd be able to start using them early!) I love them. So practical since I have my fingers on my iPhone all the time!

  3. Brandy,

You didn't really say, "No," but you were right to steer me in a different direction. I would have been hopelessly messed up with my original pattern...too bad you aren't closer so you could tutor me!

  4. Thanks Barbara! Fingerless gloves definitely are handy. I love my mittens but I am always fumbling to pick up stuff which makes me even more clumsier than I usually am :)
