Fishing On The Conejos River In Colorado

The Conejos River, which means rabbit in Spanish, is a river with a variety of personalities. There is the river that meanders through pastures which requires walking while watching one's foot placement. There is the river that flows through the canyon which requires stamina and physical conditioning and then there is the river lower down as it widens out, although a good part of this is on private property.

No matter which river section you choose to fish the Conejos is a pretty river. The fishing can be good or it can be sluggish and tricky. A fair bit of it is public which is always nice since that means that more folks can share in the enjoyment of the river.

It doesn't really matter how the fish are biting with scenery like this.

At least that's what I tell myself when the fish are ignoring any of the flies I throw at them!

  1. This post is making me really jealous! What I wouldn't give to be on a river like that right now.
