As a kid, I boycotted knitting just as I did other domestic endeavors. But after much cajoling by my mother, I decided to give knitting another try. About a month ago I took a class and to my surprise I actually enjoyed it. And it's a good fit for me because I love to shop. I can't tell you how many scarfs, gloves, hats, etc. I've bought and now I can make them for myself!
My first project was a neck warmer. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but I'm actually really pleased with the finished project.
Here's a close up of the button, which I just love. I think they add a little something. Don't you agree?
And lastly a look at it unwrapped.
So all in all I'm happy with it. And now I'm on to my second project which will be a summer scarf in a beautiful blue hue. My third project will probably be a ruffle scarf and after practicing I'm already dreading it because it increases from 100 stitches to 200 stitches to 400 stitches to 800 stitches and I'm not very good at knitting into the front and back of each stitch. So that should be an interesting little battle! Daughter.
P.S.- Sorry for the quality of the photos. I hurried to get them up before I leave for San Francisco tomorrow.
The neck warmer looks great! The buttons help to really dress it up. Now that you're an official "knitter" you have to join Ravelry (www.ravelry.com) - lots of free patterns, etc.
ReplyDeleteOohh I'll have to check that out. Thanks for letting me know about it!
